Vaporware ....
I know it is very easy to say when you look at the lesser known
airlines, and some over-exhuberant orders from a couple of middle east
orders.

The 787's order book started off with funky airlines too, but eventually
got some blue chip airlines.

This order cycle has been unprecedented, with Boeing racking up approx
900 orders before first flight, and Airbus now close to 500 orders of an
aircraft still in early development. It is fair to say that this cycle
is now over.

The best Airbus can hope is to sway one or two major airlines onto the
350 due to 787 delays. But if Boeing can get first flight in a few
months, odds of deffections will be much lower.

One question is whether the current economic situation might favour one
vendor over the other. Would blue chip airlines (who bought 787s) be
more likely to cancel orders than lesser known airlines who may not
depend on western markets ?
